Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated all around India by Hindu and Sikh communities. Guru Ravidas ji devoted his life fighting for the equality among all races and religions. Guru Ravidas Ji was born in 1376 Century. Ravidas ji was born at Varanasi(U.P.) india. Ravidas ji's father name was Santokh das and his mother name was kalsa devi. He used to spend a lot of his time
practising bhajans and meditating on the banks of River Ganges in
Varanasi (then Banaras), Uttar Pradesh.Art of Living and Behavior towards the Society was explained by the Guru

Why we celebrate Guru Ravidas Jayanti :-
Guru Ravidas jayanti is celebrated as the birth anniversary of guru Ravidas ji this year we celebrate his 643rd birthday. It will be celebrated on 9th February according to Hindu calender. Every year thousand of people gather in Varanasi to celebrate Guru Ravidas Jayanti.
How we celebrate Ravidas Jayanti :-
- Amritbani Guru Ravidas Ji is read on Ravidas jayanti. Guruji’s portrait is kept and worshipped and devotional songs are sung in his praise.
- On Ravidas jayanti the Nishan of the Gurudwara is changed and some processions are also carried out to celebrate the birthday of Guruji.
- The devotees take a holy dip in the River or Sarovar, the pond found in the vicinity of a Gurudwara, a Sikh temple.
- Ravidas ji's birthday is celebrated as a grand festival in places like Shri Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan Mandir, Seer Goverdhanpur, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Guru ravidas ji poems:-
Guru Ravidas ji was one of the best poets of india. His devotional poetry and other songs were a significant contribution to the Bhakti Movement of India.Many of his poetic creations have been included in the holy book of Sikhs Shri Guru Granth Sahib. He was also known as Indian traditional poet Kabir’s contemporary.40 poems written by him are
included in the Adi Granth of Sikhs. The two oldest sources of literary
works of Ravidas are found in the Adi Granth of Sikhs and Panchvani.

शब्द संत रविदास जी |
ऊचे मंदर साल रसोई |
ऐसी लाल तुझ बिनु कउनु करै |
कहा भइओ जउ तनु भइओ छिनु छिनु |
कूपु भरिओ जैसे दादिरा कछु देसु बिदेसु न बूझ |
खटु करम कुल संजुगतु है हरि भगति हिरदै नाहि |
घट अवघट डूगर घणा इकु निरगुणु बैलु हमार |
चमरटा गांठि न जनई |
चित सिमरनु करउ नैन अविलोकनो |
जउ तुम गिरिवर तउ हम मोरा |
जउ हम बांधे मोह फास हम प्रेम बधनि तुम बाधे |
जब हम होते तब तू नाही अब तूही मै नाही |

Biography of Guru Ravidas ji:-
- Guru Ravidas ji is considered as the founder of the Ravidassia Religion. The Ravidassia religion is a 21st-century religion followed by a sect of people who were earlier associated with Sikhism.
- His family’s traditional occupation was to make leather out of animal skin, which was considered as the work of untouchables during that time in India.
- His life story mentions many instances when he was victimised due to his caste and family occupation. Therefore, he worked towards eliminating all bias or discrimination based on caste, creed, race or gender. He also promoted freedom in terms of spiritual seeking.
